Principles of Pain
Management for Nurses

Every nurse should be able to asses and manage pain. This course includes the essential components of nursing education about pain, directed towards entry level nurses. Entry-level nursing education varies between countries and may include university or hospital based training. The curriculum is comprehensive and represents the optimal level of pain education for nursing, acknowledging that it may not be possible or realistic to incorporate all components in some resource-poor countries. This course is based on the Pain Curriculum for Basic Nursing education prepared by the International Association for Study of Pain ad hoc committee in 2006.
